Assessments during pregnancy

- Weeks 6–10First visit and confirming the pregnancy. Source: MoH Guideline.The location of the pregnancy and the heartbeat are assessed; initial blood and urine tests are requested. The first visit is recommended before week 14.
- Weeks 11–14First-trimester screening (double test + NT). Source: ACOG PB 226.Nuchal translucency measurement and a blood test are used to estimate the risk of chromosomal anomalies. The crown–rump length measured at the same scan dates the pregnancy most reliably.
- Weeks 16–18Second-trimester screening (triple/quadruple test). Source: MoH Guideline.Offered if first-trimester screening was not done or further assessment is needed.
- Weeks 18–22Detailed ultrasound (anomaly scan). Source: AIUM–ACOG–SMFM.The baby’s organ development is assessed system by system. It is the most comprehensive ultrasound examination of pregnancy.
- Weeks 24–28Glucose tolerance test. Source: ACOG PB 190.Screening for gestational diabetes. If there are risk factors, your doctor may request it earlier.
- Week 28Anti-D for Rh incompatibility. Source: ACOG PB 181.If the mother is Rh negative and the father Rh positive, a preventive injection is given around week 28.
- Weeks 28–36Check-ups every two weeks. Source: MoH Guideline.Blood pressure, weight, the baby’s growth and movements are assessed regularly.
- Weeks 36–37GBS screening and birth plan. Source: ACOG CO 797.Group B streptococcus screening is carried out; mode of delivery, place of birth and possible scenarios are discussed together.
- Weeks 37–42Term — birth. Source: ACOG CO 579.From week 37 the pregnancy is considered term. Most births happen within this range; the estimated date is not a single day but the middle of a range.
