Identify your priorities
Write down your questions and describe when symptoms began, how often they occur and how they affect everyday life. Bring a list of medicines, allergies and previous results.
The visit is tailored to you
Your age, history and symptoms guide which assessments are appropriate. Pregnancy plans, contraception and sexual health may also form part of the discussion. The same examination or tests are not needed at every visit; screening needs and intervals depend on individual assessment.
Your comfort matters
Share concerns and privacy preferences. Ask why an examination is recommended and what it involves. Let the clinician know if you feel uncomfortable.
Clarify the next steps
Ask how you will receive results and whether follow-up is needed. You can ask for an explanation to be repeated or clarified.
