In this article 5 sections
Bring your health history
Make a note of medical conditions, operations, allergies and previous pregnancies. Share relevant family history, earlier test results and your main questions.
Discuss medicines and pregnancy plans
List prescribed medicines, vitamins, herbal products and supplements. Do not stop a medicine on your own because you are planning a pregnancy; review any changes with your clinician. Folic acid and individual needs can also be discussed.
Review daily life together
Openly discussing nutrition, smoking and alcohol can help identify the support you need. Share pregnancy plans with other clinicians involved in your care. Your partner’s health history may also be relevant.
Make space for your questions
Mention difficulty conceiving, known reproductive conditions or difficulties with intercourse. Investigations and next steps are not the same for everyone; they depend on your history and needs.
